In Memory of Tim Katona
The Reining Horse Foundation and NRHA mourn the passing of Tim Katona of Belleville, Michigan.
on July 12, 2024. Tim Katona demonstrated a lifetime of dedication to the sport of reining as a trainer, coach and volunteer with NRHA and the Michigan Reining Horse Association. With his wife, Cindy, he owned and operated Katona Reining Horses. Tim had many notable career achievements in the show pen both regionally and nationally. He was an early NRHA-approved judge and held the first NRHA judges’ training clinic on his farm. His achievements in the sport and passion for supporting youth involvement in reining is notable. He was honored with the NRHA Dale Wilkinson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. The family is requesting that memorial gifts may be made to the Reining Horse Foundation’s NRHyA Scholarship fund.
